About lunar apparel

Hello, my name is Kurt, and I am the designer and creator behind Lunar Apparel.

 

I started sewing about 2 years ago after I had purchased a patchwork hat, and thought to myself that I could make one if I tried to! After I made my first hat, I made another, and then it snowballed into a complete creative storm and the momentum hasn't stopped since.

One of the most special gifts we have is this beautiful planet that we live on. I am so very grateful for my newfound passion as what came with it was the ability to help contribute to a more sustainable and healthy earth! All of my creations are crafted using materials like tablecloths, bedsheets, cushion covers, tapestries, blankets, quilts, fabric swatches and many many more. These materials are locally sourced from op shops, friends, gifted to me and often times I check nearby upholstery stores to see if they have any discontinued swatches they will part with. A lot of these fabrics often end up in landfill which not only contributes to a dangerously unstable waste problem, but it also prevents the use of perfectly good materials which I could turn into something to keep someone warm!

I really appreciate and support each and everybody's unique and individual flare. I feel that what you wear helps with your confidence and the way in which you carry yourself and even what type of mood you are in. A lot of people like to wear things that are a bit colourful and fun, but we tend to wear things that help us sort of blend in. When we have garments that we feel fit our personality and helps bring out certain aspects of our personality, we tend to wear them without feeling like standing out. The more we be unique and express our personal style, the more we will gain confidence in who we are as people, and not as the person we want to project ourselves as. This will also bring love to ourself.

All of my creations are one-of-a-kind's and you will never ever be able to find the same piece more than once. I create things with certain things like philosphy, love and the abilty to share, among other things when I am sewing away.
